The project involved archaeological monitoring and coordinating with Native American monitors during ground disturbing activities. The site is located within the boundaries of a prehistoric Tongva tribal village. Cogstone facilitated recovery and reburial of remains discovered on-site. We managed negotiation with Most Likely Descendent (MLD) representatives regarding analysis permitted, processing of all materials. We facilitated communication between MLD, the client and local officials regarding reburial, arranged reburial ceremony attended by Gabrielino/Tongva elders, conducted historic and ethnographic research. In addition, Cogstone recovered and catalogued thousands of artifacts and faunal remains; and created the lithics catalog, supervised laboratory analysis, performed and reviewed lithic analysis.
