Paleontology Field Director

Dr. Leger is a skilled paleontologist with over 16 years of experience, including six years in Southern California. She specializes in Cenozoic paleontology, Pleistocene megafauna, and North American proboscideans. She has extensive field experience in preserving fossil finds, including constructing large field jackets, fossil mapping, and fossil extraction. Dr. Leger has served as the Field Director on large scale projects, including Sections 1 and 2 of Metro’s Purple Line Expansion. She has a passion for education and she enjoys speaking with the public as well as the media to inform the community about the wonders being found in the ground. She is a member of the Geological Society of America, the Society of Vertebrate Paleontologists, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, American Institute of Professional Geologists, the Society for Sedimentary Geology, Society of Economic Geologists, and the South Dakota Archaeological Society. Dr. Leger is also a recipient of the O.R. Grawe Award for Missouri’s outstanding geologists. She also serves as the assistant safety officer for the company.
