Dr. Harris has more than 40 years of experience in Cenozoic paleontology and specializes in terrestrial vertebrate species from Rancho la Brea California and Africa.  He is the Chief Curator Emeritus, The La Brea Tar Pits and Museum (2015-present); Adjunct Professor, Department of Geology and Geophysics, University of Utah (1996-present); Visiting Associate in Geology, Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences, California Institute of Technology (2001-present); Technical Editor and Managing Editor, Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology (2011-present).
